I noticed there was a material ideas thread, but not an artifact ideas thread. So here's that.
Friendship bracelet Description: A delightful piece of jewelry with brainwashing powers. This bracelet allows you to "persuade" those who hate your face to instead give their lives for you... until the effect wears off. Actual power: Causes a ring centered around the player to expand outward to some set radius before disappearing. Any enemy touched by the ring will be recruited and start attacking other enemies for some time. Recruited enemies should probably be immune to damage from your own spells. Long time-out. Obviously, bosses and gem-holding enemies are immune.

The notion of recruiting monsters to fight for your cause is a really neat idea. When we originally started designing the different effects of Magicmaker, we tried to shy away from things that certain enemies or bosses would need to be immune to. The reason being that there is so much stuff going on at once, we wanted to make sure it was clear which effects were working and which weren't. Granted, that logic was mostly applied to spells which can have much more going on than artifacts, but the principle remains the same.
While I still think the "no immunities" rule was great to build the core of our game, I can see a little wiggle room for exceptions like this.

On second thought, there's really no reason the bosses have to be immune to friendship. There's little advantage to temporarily recruiting them if you have to kill them anyway, they're immune to your attacks while on your team, and they can't follow you outside the boss arena. It would just be a cool thing to do with little practical use. I guess it could be used to stall for vampire tooth robe healing, but not much else. If you don't feel like adding AI to the bosses so they can attack other enemies, you can make the bracelet just pacify them.

Though you'd have to make sure parts of the boss didn't attack each other for bosses with multiple components. Recruiting part of the boss should recruit the whole boss, or only the "core" component should be recruitable.
